Make A Splashy
Beverage Statement
Your Guests Won’t
Forget! by: Patrick McNamara

SHAKE IT UP
A martini or drink with ice vigorously shaken
in a bartender’s cocktail shaker. A Champagne
bottle being uncorked. A splash down the Ice
Luge. The sound of the beer being poured into
a chilled pilsner glass. These noises all suggest
one thing – celebration! This is your Cocktail
Hour, and the first impression your guests will
have of a fantastic wedding reception unfolding
before their eyes. I’ve often said, “Have
your guests walk in and feast with all their
senses – visual, taste, touch, aroma, and sound.”
Let your guests see your incredible design
work and culinary and bar staff working their
magic, taste the mouthwatering food, touch
the beautiful linens, take in the aromas of food
being cooked-to-order, listen to your smooth
music, and hear the sounds of beverages. Let
your guests experience your beverages
in
action at your Wedding Reception’s cocktail
hour – they’ll know immediately that they’re
in for a great time.
LUGE ISN’T JUST A FOR
WINTER SPORT
Ice Luges have become tremendously popular,
all year long, to boot! For those wondering just
what an Ice Luge is, envision a station during
your cocktail hour with a beautiful ice carving.
There is a channel or channels cut into the ice
carving into which a bartender pours a beverage
that shimmies and flows down the channels
and into your martini glass. Sound like fun?
You bet! Think about your great Signature
Drink being presented this way. How about a
Madras? Vodka, Orange & Cranberry Juices –
visually appealing as well as being very tasty.
Your bartender shakes it in the cocktail shaker
(more show) and then pours it down the luge
into your glass. This is a wonderful affordable
addition to any cocktail hour. “Ice luges are
very popular at the DoubleTree by Hilton
Boston North Shore,” states Amanda
McCarthy, Wedding Sales Manager, 978750-7990.
“Everybody loves a show and an ice
luge is so much fun, and a great way to serve a
festive chilled drink your guests will long
remember!”

THE WINES – FROM BUBBLY TO “WOULD YOU PREFER RED OR WHITE?”
I love Champagne. I love wines. I love being a guest at a wedding and walking up to my
assigned table and taking in the tablescape. Beautiful Linens, Napkins, coordinating Menu
Cards and Table Numbers, Incredible Floral Centerpieces, Flickering Candlelight, China,
Silver – and the Glassware. I love a beautiful water goblet, champagne flute and wine glass
or glasses, all set up and shimmering in unison above my knives. And, perhaps you’re a
